Anna's joke leads to new Chinese restaurant for Wrexham - Leader Article

WHEN owners of a Chinese restaurant said they were looking for another outlet, air conditioning engineer Anna Shipley jokingly suggested her home town of Wrexham to save on travel. She, her dad Gareth Shipley and her two workmates, David Ruddy and James Ellis, have driven often to The Chinese Buffet premises in Bolton, Wigan and Wakefield. “I never expected they would take me up on it , but that's just what they did," said Anna. "They started looking for sites in Wrexham town centre and chose the basement of the old Woolworths store. “We started on site last October and worked alongside the builders until their opening in February.” Anna's dad Gareth Shipley owns ACS Ltd and her mum Karen looks after the accounts. ACS, based at Bersham Enterprise Centre, specialises in the supply, installation, inspection, repair and maintenance of air conditioning systems cellar coolers and cold rooms. It mainly serves the Wrexham, Chester, Oswestry and Shrewsbury areas, but its engineers travel extensively throughout North Wales, the North West, Cheshire, Wirral and Shropshire. It is a family run business and all its engineers have F-Gas certification – indeed, Anna is the only woman in Wales to boast the qualification. “Our mission is to provide a quality and affordable service to all our customers,” said Anna. “We specialise in shops, offices, vets, dentists and doctors surgeries, but we also install in your home and conservatory. “We know that all needs are different, from installing a unit when a busy butcher has packed away to a school with access after 3.30pm.” ACS offers free surveys to businesses and homes for new installations.
