We are always told a preventative is better than a cure when it comes to air conditioning servicing. I have shown in the picture one of the worst units we have seen in a while. The inch thick black mould shows that the unit had not been regularly serviced leading to a horrible black sludge everywhere. We normally advise customers to have a air conditioning servicing work done every 6 or 12 months, depending on how high the usage is. The preventative measures add up, we are seeing less faults coming from customers who have a regular service then those who do not. For example during a routine service yesterday i cleaned out a small pump the air conditioning unit had, if this had been left a further 3 or 6 months the pump would have become so clogged up it probably would have burnt itself out, or backed up and covered the desk below in water. A good sign that your air conditioning needs servicing would be the smell, the bacteria inside can build up if not serviced and can give a musty, old socks smell!
